A Female Politician Heads Wase Legislative Council

The Hausas are considered very conservative such that women do not always take part in politics. Things are gradually changing though. The News Tower attended the passing out parade of Aif Force Boys Military School Jos and was opportune to meet a woman politician Safiya Ali Bukar from Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State who happened to be the Leader of the Wase Council Legislative arm.

She says she gives God the glory for her ability to be the leader of a legislative house a position she competed with men to get. There is no doubt that God gives every position one craves for but one must stand up and struggle for the position in other to get God’s backing. That was exactly her experience. She struggled for the position and God then gave it to her.

She says she is not just there a stooge but ensures she plays a major role in what goes on in the council. Recently there was a problem in her local government where some fulanis were sent away from the area for reasons of security. According to her she played a major role as the mouth piece of the legislative arm of the council to ensure that everything was done without an unpleasant outcome. According to her the whole issue was politicized and that people should be careful to ensure that they don’t buy all they hear from the press line, hook and sinker.
